Marcio Astrini
Executive SecretaryMarcio Astrini holds an undergraduate degree in public management and a graduate degree in public policy and constitutional law. He has extensive experience in the Executive and Legislative branches and in the Third Sector. For the past 13 years, he has worked for Greenpeace Brasil, where he coordinated the areas of climate, Amazon and, more recently, public policy. He is a member of the general assembly of the Brazilian Forum on Climate Change. He has been executive secretary of OC since March 2020.
Joana Amaral
Executive CoordinatorJoana Amaral is a forestry engineer who holds a master's degree in development, society and international cooperation and an advanced studies diploma in environmental education. She has more than 15 years of experience in managing projects and programs in the Ministries of Education and Environment of Brazil, and in facilitating participatory processes, management and governance in international organizations, NGOs and networks.
Claudio Angelo
Coordinator of CommunicationsClaudio Angelo is a journalist with 20 years of experience in the coverage of international climate negotiations and climate science. He is the author of Espiral da Morte – como a humanidade alterou a máquina do clima (Companhia das Letras, 2016). He has been granted an Esso Journalism Award (scientific and technological information, 2009) and a Jabuti Award (natural sciences, environment and mathematics, 2017).

Suely Araújo
Senior Specialist in Public PoliciesSuely Araujo is an urbanist and an attorney and holds a PhD in political science. She has been providing legislative consultancy to the House of Representatives in the areas of environment and urban planning for 29 years. She is a voluntary professor and full collaborating researcher at the Institute of Political Science at the University of Brasília and a Professor in the master's program in public administration at Instituto Brasiliense de Direito Público. She was Chairwoman of Ibama (2016-2018).
Isvilaine da Silva Conceição
Engagement and mobilization advisorIsvilaine da Silva Conceição has a degree in environmental engineering. She is a climate activist and in her activism she seeks to intersect socio-environmental issues with racial and gender agendas. She has been a volunteer and coordinator of the climate change WG at Engajamundo for the past 3 years and works at the Climate Observatory as an engagement and mobilization advisor.
Stela Herschmann
Climate policy specialistStela has a master's degree in Business Administration from EBAPE/FGV with an emphasis on Government, Institutions and Public Policies and a master's degree in Environmental Law and Policies from Duke University. She is a specialist in Environmental Law from PUC-Rio and has worked with [environmental] licensing and impact assessment. Since 2014 her work has been focused on climate and third sector issues.
Nauê Bernardo Pinheiro de Azevedo
Legal advisorLawyer and political scientist (University of Brasília), with a specialization in Public Law from the Superior School of Magistracy of Brasília-DF. Holds a LL.M in European private law at the Università degli Studi "Mediterranea" di Reggio Calabria and is a candidate to the master's degree in constitutional law at the Instituto Brasileiro de Ensino, Desenvolvimento e Pesquisa de Brasília - IDP.
Mariana Lyrio
Institutional Affairs AdvisorMariana Lyrio is an Institutional Affairs Advisor at the Brazilian Climate Observatory. Her previous work experience was as a government affairs consultant at BMJ Associated Consultants, a major institutional relations and public policy firm in Brazil, where she headed the Environment Unit. She has also gathered experience at WWF Brazil and the United Nations. In her spare time, she volunteered at Engajamundo, a youth-led initiative, and at the Climate Reality Project. She holds a degree in Journalism and an MBA in International Relations.

Press RelationsSolange A. Barreira is a journalist who holds a degree from ECA-USP. She has worked for Globo, Abril and Bei. She is a founding partner of P&B Communicação, a company that has been focused on environmental issues since 2006. In OC, she is responsible for the strategic publicizing of environment and climate change issues.

Tatiana Lobão
Digital Intelligence SpecialistTatiana Lobão is a Strategy and Data Intelligence Consultant and has coordinated electoral campaigns and digital operations at major events and for governments, brands and third-sector players. In OC she develops data intelligence and strategic planning projects for digital environments.
Priscila Pacheco
News reporterPriscila is journalist and co-founder of Mural, a journalism agency in the suburbs of São Paulo. She is co-author of the book “Unbias the news: why diversity matters for journalism”, and author of the graphic novel “Minas da Várzea”, a story about female football. Priscila won an award in the university category for a report about violence against journalists in Brazil. She also won an award for the graphic novel "Covid-19 vs. Favela". She has published stories in media such as Vice Brasil, Folha de São Paulo, Estadão, Plenamata, Gabo Foundation, Outride.rs (Poland), and AARP Magazine (US).
Leila Salim
JournalistLeila Salim is a journalist with a PhD in Communication and Culture from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She has experience covering politics, health policies, human rights, and climate change, emphasizing fact-checking and tackling misinformation. She was a reporter and editor for Revista Poli, at the Joaquim Venâncio Polytechnic School of Health (EPSJV / Fiocruz) and a professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte.
David Tsai
SEEG coordinatorDavid Tsai has a background in chemical engineering and geography and has been part of SEEG’s team since its creation in 2012. SEEG is the Greenhouse Gases Emissions and Removals Estimation System of the Climate Observatory (Observatório do Clima). In 2023 he has become responsible for the system’s general coordination. He is also part of the team at the Institute for Energy and the Environment (IEMA), where coordinates the Air Quality Platform.
Tasso Azevedo
Technical CoordinatorTasso Azevedo is a forestry engineer, a consultant and social entrepreneur in sustainability, forestry and climate. He was General Director of the Brazilian Forest Service and Executive Director of Imaflora. He is head of the Climate Observatory's Greenhouse Gas Emissions Estimation System (SEEG) and of the Mapbiomas consortium. He is a research associate at the Brazil Lab at Princeton University.
