Operation and Governance

NETWORK PERFORMANCE

  • OC holds debates to define strategies and joint initiatives to promote the socio-environmental agenda and fight climate crisis;
  • OC supports and fosters initiatives for capacity building, training, education and dissemination of information on climate change issues, to raise awareness and mobilize society in
    general;
  • OC provides knowledgeable participation in forums and local and international instances and networks for discussion and deliberation on climate change issues;
  • OC produces scientific, political and legal knowledge that is relevant to decision makers and society in general.

CONSTRUCTION AND APPROVAL OF PUBLIC POSITIONS

  • The construction and approval of public positions follow the plan and strategic guidelines approved by the Assembly of Members and are jointly defined with the O Coordination Committee;
  • Any member can propose public positions to the network. Proposed public positions must be approved by consensus, to be reached either by active assertion of the network members or by absence of opposition.

WORKING GROUPS

  • Working Groups (WG) are spaces for the practical exercising of the principles and objectives of OC; they are formed by members of the network and individuals from invited organizations;
  • WGs are not deliberative instances of public positions on any specific theme; instead, they target the production of knowledge and articulation between distinct actors in the community;
  • Positions adopted by the Working Groups must follow the same procedure as the public positions taken by OC.

FUNDRAISING, ASSOCIATION AND NETWORK POLICIES

  • Fundraising through OC aims at the fulfillment of the strategic plan, avoiding, as a priority, the overlapping of actions of members of the network;
  • Funds raised by OC are used to support strategic plans and the operation of OC executive secretariat and to make common and joint projects of members of the network viable;
  • OC does not accept grants or participate in fundraising originating from Brazilian governmental institutions;
  • OC does not accept grants from for-profit entities.
